Chatuchak

Market · Walk

Chatuchak is worth the trip because the whole market is open at the weekend; one direction each for clothes, home and second-hand is enough. Weekdays are only a section — do not make a special trip. Half a day: in at Mo Chit or MRT Chatuchak Park, eat at Or Tor Kor, go deep in one section, and retreat to the park or JJ Mall when it is hot. The Grand Palace and Thonglor are not the same day. Ari is a weekday lane; do not insert it here.

Food · Queue

Or Tor Kor is the stop for this produce-market meal, open on weekdays, beside Chatuchak but a different walk. Half a day: MRT Kamphaeng Phet in; at the weekend eat first then one market direction; on a weekday it can be the meal alone — do not count the weekend market in, and do not add Thonglor. Opening follows the market that day.

Landmark · Walk

Ari is weekday lane coffee and shops, not an extra on the weekend market. Half a day: BTS Ari, one lane, one bowl of boat noodles at Victory Monument, then stop. If the weekend is Chatuchak, move Ari to Tuesday–Thursday. Do not continue south to a Siam mall, and do not close with Thonglor, Khaosan, Patpong or Pratunam.

Landmark · Walk

Victory Monument is the northern circle and bus interchange — stay on the skywalk. How to use the day: BTS Victory Monument, cross on the skywalk, one bowl of boat noodles, then go; Ari is a weekday lane, Chatuchak is the weekend, and do not continue south to Siam from here. Bus services follow the terminal's notice that day.

Food · Queue

Victory Monument boat noodles are this one bowl by the circle — eat, then leave, not a second famous table. How to close: BTS Victory Monument, skywalk across, one bowl done; Ari can add one weekday lane, Chatuchak waits for the weekend, and do not continue south to Siam or Thonglor. Prices and hours follow the door that day; nothing is frozen here.

Night · Lane

The Ratchada train market is the stop for the carriage night market itself — then back to the hotel. Half a day: enter near MRT Thailand Cultural Centre, one round and one stall, and do not add a temple or Yaowarat. Pick one among this, Asiatique and Chinatown in a night; do not bounce to a Siam mall. Opening follows the site that day.

Landmark · Walk

Krung Thep Aphiwat is where most long-distance trains now call — Hua Lamphong is no longer every train. How to use it: check that day's services to change or arrive here; the north line can reach Chatuchak or Ari, but do not treat the station as a half-day sight; Don Mueang is another transfer. Tickets and platforms follow the station that day.

Indoor · Museum

MOCA is the stop for the private museum indoors north of the market. Do not insert it into a weekend-market day; on a weekday or when the market is not the main stop, make it a north half-day: Mo Chit then a local ride, visit, stop. Do not continue south to Siam, and do not make Ari a second main stop the same half-day. Opening and tickets follow the museum that day.

Green · Walk

Chatuchak Park is the exit when the market crowd is too much — same district, different tempo. How to use it: after one market direction at the weekend, rest here, or on a weekday walk only the park and Or Tor Kor; Rod Fai can extend, but do not continue south to a Siam mall or bounce to the palace. Gates follow that day's notice.

Green · Walk

Rod Fai Park is old locomotives and a large lawn — same district as the weekend market, different tempo. How to use it: a loop on a weekday or after the market closes; MOCA is a further-north private museum, separate; Chatuchak Park can extend the rest. Do not schedule the park as a palace-day replacement, and do not continue south to Siam. Gates follow that day's notice.

Mall · Walk

JJ Mall is air-conditioning and a close-out beside Chatuchak, not a second required department store. How to use it: after one market direction at the weekend, duck in from heat or rain, then leave by Mo Chit or the MRT you entered; on a weekday with only Or Tor Kor, it can be a short indoor stop. Do not add Siam or Thonglor the same day. Floors follow the shops that day.

Landmark · Walk

Saphan Khwai sits between Ari and Chatuchak — the street matters if you sleep here. How to use it: on weekdays it can extend an Ari lane pass-through; on a market weekend do not insert coffee lanes; Victory Monument is south and Mo Chit north — close in one direction. Do not binge south to Siam from here.

Landmark · Walk

Don Mueang is the low-cost airport — into the city often via Bang Sue; do not confuse it with Suvarnabhumi. How to use it: after landing, check that day's link to Bang Sue or the centre; most long-distance trains also change at Krung Thep Aphiwat; Wat Phra Sri Mahathat is only on the way — not a special trip from the palace. Flights and transfers follow the airport that day.

Temple · Walk

Wat Phra Sri Mahathat is the large Bang Khen temple on the way to Don Mueang — not a special trip from the palace. How to use it: a short stop on the north line; cover shoulders and knees, exterior or courtyard, then go; long-distance and airport changes still centre on Bang Sue — not an old-town replacement day, and do not also force Chatuchak. Opening follows the temple that day.
