One of Japan’s oldest official temples, with a five-storey pagoda. Morning worship — not a Tsutenkaku night.
Best time
Morning after the gates open. New Year and festivals are separate.
How to go
Leave the Tanimachi Line at Shitennoji-mae Yuhigaoka and walk uphill. ICOCA or PiTaPa taps the gate. An Osaka Metro day pass is Metro only — not JR.
Tips
- · One of Japan’s oldest official temples, with a five-storey pagoda. Morning worship — not a Tsutenkaku night.
- · Visit in the morning. The central cloister follows that day's notice. Do not add a Tsutenkaku night. The slope is slippery in rain.
