Walk in from the Democracy Monument or Sam Yot: Loha Prasat, Wat Suthat and the Golden Mount by day, close at the alms-bowl lane after the climb; Khaosan after dark or leave it out. Skip the palace.
Why it is smooth: The north ring of the old town. The palace is not required.
