One gallery route in the afternoon
From Shilin station, the bus to the Palace. After opening, one gallery route — do not try to finish the museum. Closures, last admission and tickets follow the Palace site's current notice. Do not assume a fixed weekday, and do not write a frozen fare. Zhishan Garden is outside. Shung Ye is the other option if an hour remains — do not circle both. The Shilin Residence is not required; go only if the legs remain. Pick one floor's gallery route at the Palace. Outside, keep Zhishan or Shung Ye to one hour. Stop the day here. Leave the other district for tomorrow. Do not add a stop before the last train, and trust the station board over this guide.
Evening keeps only Shilin Night Market
After the museum, return toward Jiantan and Shilin for the night market. Stop when you have eaten enough — do not finish every lane. Tianmu and the ballpark are another afternoon; do not transfer there after the market. The Grand Hotel and the Martyrs' Shrine can be another north day. Do not rush from the Palace to a roof and a guard change. Stop the market when you are full. Do not suddenly take the Tianmu bus at Jiantan. Keep this stretch inside two hours. Note the metro exit before you start, leave as soon as you have seen or eaten, and do not queue a second door.
Do not append Beitou or Xinyi
The Beitou museum, Thermal Valley and the public bath are a spring day; the bus and the soak each need half a day. Yangmingshan is a bus day and does not follow the Palace. Elephant Mountain or 101 is an east dusk. The shape of a Shilin day is one museum plus one night market. Shilin ends at Shilin or Jiantan. The Xinbeitou branch and Elephant Mountain wait for other days. Stop once in the middle. When you have eaten or looked, walk on. Do not turn passing shops into a list, and go back by the station you came in on.
