Morning: North Gate, the exterior, one museum
Taipei Main Station is arrival and departure. Walk to North Gate, then along Ketagalan Boulevard for the Presidential Office exterior. Do not schedule an interior visit as another half day unless you have checked the current opening. The National Taiwan Museum in 228 Park, or the railway park: go deep at one. Closures and tickets follow that museum's current notice. Do not assume a fixed weekday, and no exact fare. The exterior and one museum end the morning. If the interior is not open, do not wait at the gate for the next group. Stop the day here. Leave the other district for tomorrow. Do not add a stop before the last train, and trust the station board over this guide.
Nanmen at noon, the memorial in the afternoon
From Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall station, Nanmen Market is lunch. He Xing cakes are a snack; if you already ate in the market, do not order another round. Then a short flat stop in the botanical garden, or straight to Liberty Square. Whether the hall itself is open follows the current notice. Keep one guard ceremony. Stop at the square at dusk. Do not add a height. Walk from the market to the square. After the guard change, exit. Do not wait for the sun to finish setting. Keep this stretch inside two hours. Note the metro exit before you start, leave as soon as you have seen or eaten, and do not queue a second door.
Do not append Huashan breakfast or Ximen
Fu Hang is another morning, at Huashan Market, until it sells out. Do not finish Nanmen and then rush to that queue. The Ximen streets and Longshan are two other days. Elephant Mountain or the 101 observatory is Xinyi dusk. A Zhongzheng day stays level: the gate, the exterior, one museum, the market, the square. Zhongzheng ends at the memorial or Taipei Main Station. Fu Hang and Ximen wait for another morning. Stop once in the middle. When you have eaten or looked, walk on. Do not turn passing shops into a list, and go back by the station you came in on.
