Common mistakes: noon chicken-rice queues, daytime satay street
Maxwell chicken rice before eleven if you can. Lau Pa Sat satay lane opens around 7:30 — daytime is architecture only. Newton atmosphere after six; a film still is not worth an empty noon queue.
Who fits which centre
Chinatown day → Maxwell. Bay night → Lau Pa Sat. Orchard / Newton stay → Newton. Old Airport Road stays on an east / Katong rhythm — not a cross-island dash from MBS.
