Why this axis: heritage walk, not a mall corridor
Kampong Glam runs on mosque, fabric shophouses and lane cafés — nothing like Orchard AC or the Bay waterfront. Half a day fills it; stacking Little India blurs two scent-and-etiquette worlds into one street.
Common mistakes: forcing prayer hours, treating Haji Lane as the spine
Five daily prayers — non-Muslims out of the prayer hall; 9–11 am is usually steadier, trust the day’s notice. Haji Lane is one mural-and-shop loop, not a full day; fabric and rugs stay on Arab Street. Bugis can resupply — do not invert it into “Bugis first, mosque as a side stop.”
Who it suits / who can skip
Suits: slow heritage streets, shophouse façades, fabric and perfume. Skip if your short trip is only USS / Mandai tickets or hawker queues — Maxwell or the Zoo pays better.
