Who should stay in Umeda
Early shinkansen, Hankyu to Kyoto, dinner in Kitashinchi: stay in Umeda. Station hotels are about 5–10 minutes from the north exit. Footfall stays at street level; upper floors are quieter. Umeda is not downstairs from Dotonbori.
Who should stay in Namba or Shinsaibashi
First trip, night market, Rapi:t or Kintetsu Nara: stay in Namba or Shinsaibashi. Ebisubashi is about 5–10 minutes from Namba Station, and it is loud at night. Kuromon is close in the morning. Shinsaibashi sits mid-arcade, slightly quieter than the canal, but you still hear the street.
Who should stay at Universal City
Stay at Universal City only on a USJ day. The gate is about 5–10 minutes from the station. Quiet after closing, crowded again at dawn. On a Kaiyukan day stay at Tempozan. Do not book Universal City and then head to Dotonbori.
