Kampung Baru / Chow Kit

Kampung

A Malay village of timber houses and food still inside the city. A half-day of eating and walking — do not merge it with Petaling Street.

Mosque

The clearest onion dome in the kampung. The façade and the nearby tables are enough — do not push into Chow Kit looking for a secret.

Wet market

Wet market, produce and cooked food packed into Chow Kit. It is a morning market, not nightlife.

Street

Streets, cloth and budget lodgings outside the market. The half-day ends here — back to the kampung or to Brickfields, not onward to Batu Caves.

Station mall

The mall on Chow Kit station — rain and transfers. Do not write it up as a Bukit Bintang substitute.

Textiles

The old textile and wholesale street from Chow Kit toward the colonial core. One stretch is enough — cloth and gold, then stop.

Little India

Garlands, saris and banana-leaf rice around Masjid India. Brickfields Little India is a different place — do not stamp both in one day.

Old cafe

The old cafe on Jalan TAR — steak and the room's history. One meal of the Little India half-day, not a Michelin sample.
