Kyoto shopping: one arcade a day — not four streets
Teramachi and Shinkyogoku are covered. Nishiki is food and snacks — not a full souvenir sweep. Takashimaya and Hankyu at Kawaramachi are a transfer and one department store, not a second sightseeing district. One central arcade — do not shop-hop to Arashiyama or Uji tea street. In rain prefer arcades; do not force the Kiyomizu slopes for gifts.
