Teramachi/Shinkyogoku for covered shopping; a roofed stretch of Nishiki. Subway or bus to Shijo/Karasuma — skip open slopes.
Where to stop / what not to stack
Stop indoors and in central arcades. Do not force Kiyomizu stone slopes, Arashiyama bamboo or the Inari climb. Philosopher’s Path is slick — another day.
