本文介紹高雄市的鮪魚產業及其種類，本市為國際知名的鮪釣漁業基地，漁場遍及全球，對國家漁業有相當經濟貢獻，更能間接進行國民外交。 本市漁業之發展始於日治的1916年，其後漁船規模逐漸擴大，漁場也由近海擴展至蘇緣海、南中國海、西里伯斯海，進至太平洋中部及印度洋東南部。鮪魚種類有黃鰭鮪、大眼鮪、長鰭鮪、黑鮪等，偶爾有印度鮪，黃鰭鮪和大眼鮪為內銷，其餘為外銷。黃鰭鮪、大眼鮪分布於太平洋、大西洋、印度洋之溫熱帶海域，為基本鮪類，是重要的經濟鮪類。黑鮪為基本鮪類，漁場是臺灣東海面至日本
